Job description
Job Title: Quality Manager Auto Component Manufacturing - Chennai
Job Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Quality Manager to lead and elevate the quality assurance function within our automotive component manufacturing operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring product compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement, manage supplier quality, and foster a culture of excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Systems & Compliance
Implement and sustain quality management systems aligned with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and other applicable standards.
Lead internal audits and coordinate third-party certification audits.
Ensure adherence to APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC protocols.
Inspection & Testing
Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections of automotive components.
Validate first-piece inspections and job-order audits.
Manage metrology, calibration systems, and ensure equipment accuracy.
Customer & Supplier Interface
Address customer complaints using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and Root Cause Analysis.
Maintain quality documentation and manage OEM portals.
Collaborate with suppliers for PPAP submissions and incoming quality control.
Continuous Improvement
Lead Lean Six Sigma initiatives to reduce defects and enhance process capability.
Monitor and report key quality metrics including PPM, COPQ, and warranty claims.
Promote correct at source and implement error-proofing (poka-yoke) strategies.
Team Leadership
Supervise and mentor Quality Engineers and Technicians.
Conduct training sessions on quality tools, standards, and problem-solving methodologies.
Cultivate a culture of quality ownership across all departments.
Skills & Attributes:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Automobile, or Industrial Engineering.
Total 15 Years, Minimum 7 years of experience in automotive component manufacturing.
Certified Lead Auditor for IATF 16949 (preferred).
Proficient in quality tools: FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram.
