Legal Counsel - Labour & Employment Job Summary: The Legal Counsel will oversee and manage labour-related litigation at the Labour Court, handling all aspects of case preparation, documentation, and coordination with external counsels to protect the organization?s interests. The role involves providing legal advice to HR and business teams on employment matters and ensuring compliance with labour laws. The individual will be responsible for managing case progress, responding to legal notices, and ensuring timely filings and proper record-keeping. Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage labour litigation cases, including pleadings, documentation, evidence, and coordination with external lawyers. Provide legal advice to HR and business teams on employment issues, including employer-employee relationships, contractors, and concessions. Ensure timely filing of pleadings and vetting of legal documents. Coordinate with lawyers for the effective presentation of evidence and witness preparation. Keep track of case progress, maintain accurate records, and update management on case statuses. Respond promptly to legal notices, maintain correspondence with unions, and support HR with legal matters. Ensure no adverse court orders and compliance with legal requirements. Stay updated on labour law regulations and key court rulings, sharing insights with HR and other stakeholders. Qualifications: Strong knowledge of labour laws, including Industrial Disputes Act, PF, ESI, Termination Laws, Gratuity, Bonus, Minimum Wages Act, POSH, etc. Proven experience in labour law litigation, including handling cases before labour courts and tribunals. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and effectively coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interpret laws and provide practical legal advice. Skills: Sound judgment and problem-solving in labour law matters. Ability to multitask and manage pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of case management, MIS updates, and timely lawyer bill processing.
